Hey, guys!

As this title suggests, this blog is about pregnancies in Hogwarts, and clairvoyance! Not... clairvoyants getting pregnant in Hogwarts, but rather they're both different topics. xD Anyways, let's get to it!

Pregnancies[]

Now, I was meant to post a blog a few weeks ago about pregnancies in Hogwarts, given that topic came up on chat a few weeks ago. I know this is a particularly sensitive topic, so to say, considering this is something that has caused arguments beforehand, but I am not looking to start anything. Feel free to leave your opinion in the comment section, but please, be polite as you do so. :) I don't mean to offend anyone with this blog post, and if it does, then I'm completely sorry. It was not my intention.

So, there was a vote about... two years ago, I believe? Everyone made good points, and I understand that it's worrisome when there's a teenage pregnancy - in Hogwarts, no less - but it happens in real life, so it shouldn't be fair to ban it here in DARP. I feel that what was agreed upon in that vote is what we should stick to. Pregnancies in Hogwarts can happen, so long as:

  1. The parents are aged seventeen or above IC, whether they're sixth years or seventh years. They have to be seventeen.
  2. There must be good reasoning. Like said on the vote, it could be for the sake of character development, or a character story, or even if it's because it was an issue close to the user in question and they wanted a chance to protray it accurately.
  3. In the woman's third trimester, if she is still in Hogwarts, she must go to St. Mungo's for professional care and will not be roleplayed at Hogwarts for that time. The character may [re]take her NEWTs, though they would also have to redo part of the year, to graduate officially from Hogwarts.
  4. Up until that point of induction to St. Mungo's, the pregnant character must recieve biweekly check-ups in the Hospital Wing. The roleplayers of the pregnant characters can choose to roleplay this or not. It is not obligatory.
  5. No fetus deletus (abortions). The character may give the baby up if desired, but no abortions. The pregnancy is happening for a reason.

Additionally, you must have admin permission.

Please keep in mind that a baby will affect your character for the rest of his/her life. Be careful when it comes to making these sorts of decisions. And please, we do not need nor want a sudden 'pregnancy epidemic' or anything of those sorts. This is just a blog informing you all of what can be done, what can't be done, and how to do it.

If any of you have any questions or worries, you can leave a comment down below, or send me an owl. :)

Clairvoyance[]

Onto the next topic: clairvoyance! I've already sorted two clairvoyant characters recently. I didn't really understand the concept of clairvoyance well, until I checked in on what it was, for the sake of not only curiosity, but understanding the characters that I approved of a little bit better. Clairvoyants were already a part of the wiki when I joined, given there were one or two around, so I didn't see a problem in approving them.

I still do not see any problems, but please be mindful as to what being a clairvoyant means.

Clairvoyance is the supposed faculty of perceiving things or events in the future or beyond normal sensory contact.

From what I found, Clairvoyance is divided into three... categories, I believe is what you call them.

  1. There's Clairaudience-- the supposed faculty of perceiving, as if by hearing, what is inaudible. Key word: inaudible. Thoughts are inaudible. So, that part is just reading thoughts, in an unintentional way in the beginning. As if they all just... reach to you, until you're able to control what you want to hear, and what you don't want hear, but it takes hard work and focus to do this, so please be as realistic as possible.
  2. Then there's clairsentience: the ability to clearly feel energy. Emotions have energy, thoughts have energy, intentions have energy, pain carries with it an energy, etc. This is your ability to feel what normally isn't seen and put words and sensations to it.
  3. Finally, there's claircognizance, which is a metaphysical sense where you know something to be correct but are unable to back up your statement with fact. It is, so to say, an intuition you get. As if to say... you feel as if a lamp will fall, and have a feeling of when it will, and how it will.

I don't want any of you to make a clairvoyant if you don't think you can handle it. Clairvoyants will be monitored closely by me, to make sure they do not become overpowered. Also, I will be keeping an eye out for metagaming. If you have a clairvoyant with clairaudience, then the thought-reading must be roleplayed, otherwise it will be considered metagaming. There is another clear line aside from metagaming that I don't want any of you to pass - the line that separates reasonable from overpowered.

There are other things similar to the branches of clairvoyance. There is legilimency, which is similar to clairaudience, although legilimency is learnt and not born with it. There are also Nymph Spirits, which are incredibly similar to having clairsentience. Finally, similar to claircognizance is the sight of seeing (seers). While making a clairvoyant character is allowed, the three I have also just mentioned can also be created, and are closer to canon. There is no actual evidence to clairvoyance being connected to the HP world, but this is a fanon site, and not everything is 100% canon.

To those that are unfamiliar with the term, to be overpowered in a video game, or a roleplay site, is to be unreasonably powerful. I do not want any OP characters running around DARP. I will be keeping a close eye out for OP characters and, should your character be deemed too OP, you can be asked by a Bureaucrat to redo your character (without the clairvoyance). I'm sure none of us would want that, so please be careful with your characters.

Like I commented on the pregnancies bit, I do not want an epidemic of 'clairvoyant characters'. Should the number get too high, there will be a freeze put on the making of clairvoyant characters.

And if it is not clear, clairvoyant characters will count as exotic, meaning a user can only have one, and (if you have a clairvoyant) he/she/xe will count as one of your four in the exotics limit. Also, your character cannot have all three (clairsentience, claircognizance, and clairaudience). He/she/xe may only have one of the three.

Again, if you have any questions or concerns, please leave a comment down below, or send me an owl.

Have a good day! :)
