1) What was your first incident of magic and how old were you?
- they said to keep this short and sweet? as if i talk a lot or something. she scoffs. anyway, i was five. i like to take a lot of inspiration from scenes around me when it comes to sketches and stuff so... i was sitting by the window. i kept thinking 'that's too much sunlight' or 'that's not enough' and the next thing i knew, the tree branch outside my window was adjusting to my thoughts, stretching to cover up the window when i was frustrated with too much sunlight, and pulling away when i needed more. it was hella cool, man.
2) How do you want to be remembered by the people around you?
- i want to be remembered as a trustworthy person, a loyal friend, and an ambitious woman determined to make her mark on the world. i want the 'yuni' brand to be all over the world, boutiques opened up in every major city. i want people to remember my ideas, my passion. there's so much in that, you know?
3) What is one activity that helps wind you down? Alternatively, what is one activity that does the opposite to you? Is there more than one, if so-what?
- reading. it's very relaxing, honestly. just curling up in bed with the latest installment in your favorite book series. that? that is heaven. people usually expect me to say "drawing" or something like that but, i really only draw with purpose. i don't draw just cause.
4) Were you close with your family growing up? If not-why?
- considering my parents are dead, my brother and sister lived with my obliviated grandparents in colorado, and i'm here on my own... i'd say no. look, okay, yeah. i'm pretty close to my younger siblings but they're like... young, young, you know? they were born like a year before my parents died. and i was eight. we all got sent to my grandparents. i barely knew them when started attending ilvermorny and... they don't even remember me anymore so. yeah, we're not very close.
5) If you weren’t raised by your parents, who did? How did you find yourself in this position?
- my parents raised me for eight years before they died. and then my grandparents took in after that... up until some stuff occurred and well... let's just say some measures had to be taken. so, now i live by myself in the uk. i'm 17! so... you know... it's not illegal or anything, but um... yeah, it's rough.
6) Where do you see yourself in ten years?
- hopefully not slumming it in a noodle shop and part-time internship? in ten years, i'd love to open up my own boutique! but... i know that's kind of hard to do nowadays. but y'know, i'll figure it out. ten years is a lot of time, y'know?
7) If you’re not native to the UK, where were you born and how did you end up in the UK?
- born in chicago, moved around the state a lil', then to colorado, then you know... had to dip. i don't think my grandparents would be too keen on keeping a stranger in their house.
8) How much effort do you put into fashion and appearance? Do you have a personal ‘aesthetic’?
- i am and always will be a representation of my brand, my character, so i always make the effort to dress my best. some people say i'm crazy, but i even wake up early to make sure the school uniform ironed, robes straight as a ruler. i ain't gonna show up nowhere looking like your girl after she came home from running around with some no-good dudes. but i always try to add a lil' something something to distinguish myself. a pin here, a ribbon there. and you know my outfits always match. i will not be caught dead looking like bobo the fool.
9) When was the last time you cried?
- are you really asking me? as if i'm gonna answer. dude. i mean like... yeah, i guess it was recently. pretty recently. probably an hour ago, but that's not stuff you really need to know, y'know?
10) How do you treat the people around you?
- i treat everyone how they treat me. we chill? we chill. you hate my guts? don't think i'm gonna be all buddy buddy with you like you my best friend or somethin'. we ain't like that, respect it. but for the most part, i ain't gonna snap at you or anything. i'm not crazy and i respect people's boundaries. just keep your disdain to yourself, okay?
11) Do you believe people can be given a second chance?
- yes, definitely, amen, hallelujah. not only can people get a second chance, but i feel like everyone deserves one. now, that's up to you and the circumstance and the situation and the person, but personally, i'm always willing to forgive.
never forget though.
12) What do you think it means to be human?
- living. people who sit cooped up by themselves ain't living. they ain't being human. being human is exploring, discovering, finding out who you are, your crowd, the things you can do, the things you aspire to do. you apprehensive about trying something new? do it or else you're not living. you gotta take those risks. you gotta live. you never know when the earth says your time is up.
13) Who or what is your ‘kryptonite’?
- when people... talk about me. can't handle it. i don't like it when people be talking behind my back y'know? like, it could be good stuff and all, but it just makes me uneasy to know people out there whispering who knows what about when i ain't looking. the moment i find out something that someone said behind my back, i just feel all the anger and sadness in me collide into this giant pool, and i just want to scream and shout and throw 'em in there, see how they like it.
14) What can usually be found in your fridge?
- considering i don't have a fridge, nothing. but if i did, stocked to the brim with all the good stuff. soul food definitely. and ice cream. and sweet potato pie. oh, can't forget the oreos. mint oreos especially, those are the best.
15) Do you have instances in your past that you’d prefer not to tell people?
- yeah, definitely. it's pretty awkward to tell people your parents fell off a balcony to their deaths because they were scared of their eight-year-old child. oh, and also extremely awkward to share the fact that your younger siblings and grandparents have no idea you exist. just wonderful really. can't think of a single reason why i wouldn't want to share this... wonderful news.
16) How's your financial situation? What's your main income? Do you rely on anyone? Do you want to rely on them or be more independent?
- my financial situation is honestly kind of shaky. since it's my last year, i still live at hogwarts so i'm not worried about a place to stay... yet. i work at oodle noodle pretty often so there's some bag there, and oh! i got a paid internship from alohomora to be on their stylist team, which is definitely some good coin. the thing is, in a year, i'm suddenly going to have to factor in a whole bunch of other things besides a uniform and books into my budget.
17) Do you believe technology and magic can coexist together?
- if there's a will, there's a way. i think anything can coexist with enough effort and work put into it. there's few excuses for stuff like coexisting. unless having these two things together literally renders both of them useless
or dead, don't see why not.
